Preparing for spring and summer is always a big thing around here because I’m personally not as into warm weather fashion. I did a trend analysis project last week in one of my merchandising courses that prompted me to take an even closer look at what’s popular in color, pattern, fit, and theme this spring and summer. Good news for my personal style: unique variations of classic black and white will be everywhere.

As the fashion cycle generally spins, many of the designs for spring/summer ’13 are based on new takes on previous trends. Black and white is easy chic, but the new ways of wearing it are fresh, interesting, and undeniably sharp.
I spent quite a bit of time gazing at and taking inspiration from the countless designer collections that sent black and white down the runway, and then I searched for pieces I can actually afford…

Black and white is just one color combination I’ll be participating in. It is shown in countless forms this season and still hasn’t lost the appeal.
I’m oddly excited about this upcoming season and dressing for it, too. Can you tell?
