It’s a love story that began in the mid-1990s on the campus of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. Bonding over a passion for textiles, India-native Sachin Ahluwalia falls for Babi, his future wife and business partner.
The couple married after graduation and soon launched ANK International, a luxury textile and embroidery company. Out of this company, their successful home furnishing brand Ankasa was born, sealing their place as skilled visionaries in the field. To Sachin and Babi Ahluwalia, elegant and fashionable textiles were capable of translating into all forms of design. Under this notion, they dove into women’s apparel.
On the runway, it is evident that the design team stays true to their aesthetic. Their emphasis is still on luxury fabric, detailed embroidery, refined texture and modern print created in a classic silhouette for the modern woman.
Spring 2014 ready-to-wear delivers what the brand promises – quality and class that is undeniably contemporary. Bright colors appear in bold, solid portions only to draw the eye to the abstract shapes, prints and cut-out details. Each design has a career woman vibe and is made in clean shapes that are both sophisticated and practical.
Presenting style in a way that looks effortless, Sachin + Babi are notable duo-designs for every woman with a look that is classic, a notch elevated.
